Steve Levitan, resident in the San Jose office, specializes in intellectual property litigation. Mr. Levitan has extensive experience in patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, antitrust, internet privacy, e-commerce, and technology contract disputes. His litigation experience encompasses trial and appellate work in federal court, California and Oregon state courts, and the International Trade Commission. Mr. Levitan also is experienced in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and UDRP (domain name) arbitration proceedings.

Mr. Levitan has represented U.S., Korean, and Taiwanese semiconductor chip designers and manufacturers in patent infringement lawsuits involving front and back-end manufacturing processes and circuit design technology; represented a U.S. modem manufacturer in patent and antitrust litigation; represented a U.S. server and workstation company in antitrust and copyright litigation; represented a U.S. computer systems integrator in a trade name infringement suit; defended a U.S. semiconductor chip manufacturer in a contract dispute with a former sales representative; represented an inventor/consultant in a breach of contract arbitration action against a laser device manufacturer; represented a software company in one of the first cases brought under California's internet "anti-spam" law; and represented numerous clients in negotiating favorable resolutions of trademark, trade name, and domain name disputes.

Mr. Levitan also serves as a court-appointed arbitrator for the Santa Clara County Superior Court.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Levitan was a partner at Skjerven Morrill LLP in its IP litigation Group and served as Chair of the Hiring Committee and as Secretary for the partnership.
