David W. Heid specializes in patent, trademark, copyright and licensing law. Areas of technical expertise include semiconductor devices and process for manufacturing semiconductor devices, including particularly MOSFET and memory products; disk drives; read/write transducers for magnetic recording and playback of information; circuitry relating to storage of information on magnetic media, particularly in the disk drive field; and telecommunications equipment and circuitry. Mr. Heid is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Prior to forming MacPherson Kwok Chen & Heid LLP, Mr. Heid was a patent partner at Skjerven Morrill, where he joined in 1987. Before Skjerven, Mr. Heid established an in-house Intellectual Property function handling all domestic and foreign patent, trademark, copyright and related matters at Memorex Corporation. In addition, he administered the company's international trademark protection program, prepared and negotiated technology and trademark licensing, joint venture and other business agreements. Other in-house patent positions prior to joining Memorex include serving as patent counsel for GTE Automatic Electric, Inc. and Warwick Electronics Inc.
